At the start of the scene, it shows a close-up camera shot of Ellisons face. This shot explains his emotions and worries about what is in the attic. Futhermore the camera shot is reversed as it shows what Ellison is lokking at ( The ladder leading up to the attic). As Ellison is going to the stairs the camera shot is in a First-person state, as you are almost looking at the ladder and following his footsteps. This allows the audience to feel Ellisons scared sence that something is in the attic. Moreover the medium close up of the ladder is effective, becuase only the ladder is lit up, and the surroundings are in the darkness. this is effective becuase it shows that something is in the attic, and that the audience is waiting for Ellison to find out. There is also a close up of Ellisons face as he is looking up to the ladder. This shot allows the audience to expierence his worrying and fightened mood. Furthermore it shows a medium long shot of Ellison looking and then going up the stairs, which are the only object in the attire house that is in the light. For some people if in darkness would go into the light for safety, however this is not the case. In this case the light is where the scary scene takes place, and the ladder and darkness of the house is only the build up to the main scary scene. Also there is a reversed angle shot when Ellison is looking at the 5 children and then it shows Ellisons face, which implies shock and horror. Moreover there is a medium long shot of the movie in which Ellison and the 5 children are watching. Then a man appears in the movie, and then in which the man disappears and comes right into Ellisons eyesight ( Close -up shot). When Ellison falls down the stairs it shows a medium long shot of the surrounding corridor. Suddenly objects fall from the attic, in with a close up of Ellisons face follows to show that he is scared. The camera quickly switches from Ellisons face to the objects being thrown down from the attic. This shows the intensity of the scene and also eludes to the fact that there is something up in the attic.
