Evaulation

In order to complete my evaluation. there are are sieries of questions that i will need to answer, and show different ways of evaluating them. I will then go onto explain what I beleive these questions are asking mne, and tell you how i am going to answer the questions.

1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

For this question I will need to talk about how my media project relates to other film in the media industry. I may want to realate to another film, which is the same genre as mine. Therefore this will give me the oppertunity to reflect on what was similar, and which was totally different to the film in comparision to my media.

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

This question asks to show/ state who are the types of people who would watch your film, from your media openeing sequence

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

This question is asking where you would think your media proiduction would be showed, and talk about why this type of media institution would show your production

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
Question 4 is asking who your audience is  ( for example your age group/gender)

5. How did you attract/ address your audience?
This question is asking in what ways have you presented your media project to make it appealing to your viewers.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
this question is asking what you have learnt from doing media at A levels for example: various shots and angles, and then how you have used these things to produce your media project.

7. Looking back at your preliminary task ( the continuity, editing task) what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
For this question, you have to talk about what you have learnt from your preliminary task and look at the mistakes you have made, and try to develop on them in your full product.

Evaluation ideas

The evaluation this year consists of questions that i will have to answer about my time studying Media studies at A level, and about my sequence.

Other than a written answer I can present my questions in the Following ways:

  • A Presentation
  • PodCast
  • Directors commentary
  • Group discussion

The ways above will allow me to present my view on the evaluation questions, as this will give a range of ways to show the examiner that I can talk about my sequence instead of just writing my thoughts down in an essay. This will show my confidence, and also show what the other members of my group feel about Media Studies and what we've learnt in order to put into our sequence.

Changing the sequnce ( Ending)

For my group's media sequence, obviously parts of clips needed to be changed. The changes were:

  • Show girl walking in a confined space
  • Show girls headphones wrapped around phone on the floor
  • Show a close up of text message

We wanted to improve our sequence by showing the vulnerable girl ( Hollie) in a confined space. This shows that as Hollie is walking in a confined space, and being followed by the Stalker, there is n escape as she is in a enclosed area, therefore this makes Hollie's character more vulnerable, as Hollie's character will not be able to run away, as her " backs against the wall"

Furthermore at the end of the sequence you see the girls headphones wrapped around her phone on the floor. The headphones wrapped around the girls phone portrays that Hollie's character is the phone and the headphones represent that she cannot break free of the situation she is in. Her phone is on the ground, as this alludes that something has happened to the girl so it leaves you on a cliff hanger.

Also when the text message is shown on the girls phone, it was unclear what the text message said. Therefore my group re- filmed the image of the text message so it clearly shows the girls text message on her phone from her mum. This shows the mums concern in why she isn't home yet.

filming- Production diary

My group when filming considered various components in are sequence these were

  • Lighting
  • Weather
  • Continuity
These are main components when filming, as continuity is an essential part in any sequence. This is because you will want the sequence to flow, to ensure the viewer/ audience to feel like they want to watch more.

For example in the process of making our sequence, we had to change the part that shows the phone ( Shows a text message) as the date on the phone was a different date to the next clip. Thereofore when the group and I noticed this, we had to re-film the clip as the continuity of this particular clip was different.

Furthermore weather is a key element when filming, this is becuase the weather links in with continuity for example if you film in bright sunlight at the sart of your sequence, and then half way through your sequence its in darkness, this will lose all focus on continuity of your sequence
