The beginning starts with a car chase scene, you get to know both characters in a flash, because you can see that they're trying to stop the villains. Furthermore you can see that Danson and Highsmith ( Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L Jackson) are both police officers. You can see that they're not ordinary police officers because they're not wearing normal police uniform. Instantly you get to know the characters as quite funny and they take their job as a game. You start to notice this when they fire through the double decker bus, as Danson drives the bus crashing into whatever comes in his way, to then catapult or slingshot Highsmith ( In the sports car) into the air whilst shouting ( Whilst firing) "You have the right to remain silent" this shows the utter stupidity of the characters. Furthermore at the end of the opening scene where the media are asking questions, the interviewer asks both "Novelty Hero's" that they caught the villains with a quarter pound of Marijuana for 12 million dollars in property damage, as Highsmith replies' Why don't we ask New York city that question, The greatest city on Earth!' This shows that Highsmith doesn't answer the question at all and answers in a childish fashion. This for me concludes the fact that Danson and Highsmith are the saviours of the city in the publics eyes of New York City. What people really cant see is that they're an idiotic pair of jumped-up detectives who take matters into their own hands and do it their way.
